Sexual assault is an act, in which a person sexually touches another person without that person’s consent, to engage in a sexual act against their will.
Besides, the impacts on the survivors, sexual assault also heavily affects the economy. According to the 1995 US Merit Systems Protection Board, Sexual assault alone cost the federal government an estimated amount of $327 million. These cost can include job turnovers,sick leaves and medical and mental health services. Fifty percent of rape victims lost or were forced to quit their jobs in the year following their rapes due to the emotional effects victims suffer from such as anger, self-blame, anxiety, shame, nightmares, fear, depression, guilt, and etc.
