The faster a player gets the correct answer, the bigger the points the learner can get. The software also recognizes streaks of correct answers. On the other hand, students who cannot answer a question correctly will be having an encouraging note prompt to keep them confident. When playing Kahoot, the students will log into the system using a game pin and a nickname. The students are also asked to give feedback on the quiz they have played through giving scores on whether the quiz was fun, educational, can be recommended to others, and how you generally feel about the quiz. Kahoot can be played in two modes: players vs. players and teams vs. teams. Finally, Kahoot offers the option for the teacher to download the scores from the quiz in an Excel spreadsheet, as well as re-playing a quiz in ghost-mode. Although its features and capabilities somehow similar to traditional student response system (SRS), Kahoot distinguishes itself from other SRSs since it is designed as a game or rather a game-based platform. A similar study about clickers has been conducted in Thailand. McCloskey (2013) found out that clickers significantly improved the atmosphere of classrooms. In theory, learning happens when learners are inside a healthy and enjoyable atmosphere. Yet, there is no solid evidence that it has positive effects in student achievement. Researchers have yet to prove whether clickers truly affect students’ performance.
Kahoot is user friendly and benefits both educators and students. Learners should always be involved if they are going to learn. Game-based learning is a best exercise in education and finding ways to incorporate competitive games in the classroom that stimulate learning is indispensable for teachers in the twenty first century. Kahoot creates a fun and competitive environment that promotes learning (Dellos, 2015).
